2016 Acura MDX Earns Five-Star Safety Rating From Federal Government (US)

WASHINGTON - The upgraded 2016 Acura MDX SUV earned the top five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The 2016 MDX received five stars in the front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover crash test.

The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the MDX.

Standard safety equipment includes a rearview camera, vehicle stability assist with traction control, antilock brakes, LED daytime running lights and seven airbags, including a driver's knee airbag.

The AcuraWatch suite of advanced safety and driver-assist technologies is available as a stand-alone package on every 2016 MDX and is standard with the Advance package. It features road-departure mitigation and a rear cross-traffic monitor.

The 2016 MDX has not been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. But the 2015 MDX earned the 2015 Top Safety Pick+ award from the Institute, earning "good" scores in all crash tests.
